PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Levofloxacin belongs to the class of medicines known as quinolone antibiotics. It works by killing bacteria or preventing their growth.

CHEMICAL NAME

(-)-(S)-enantiomer of the racemic drug substance ofloxacin. The chemical name is (-)-(S)-9-fluoro-2,3-dihydro-3-methyl-10-(4-methyl- 1-piperazinyl)-7-oxo-7H-pyrido[1,2,3-de]-1,4-benzoxazine-6-carboxylic acid hemihydrate.

INDICATIONS

It is used for the treatment of infections due to bacteria against which this medicine is active, such as: Acute sinusitis. Worsening of chronic bronchitis, pneumonia, skin and soft tissue infections, urinary tract infections, sepsis and intra-abdominal infections.
