Ixabepilone is an antimicrotubule agent that kills cancer cells by stopping cell division. It’s similar to the natural substance epothilone B.

DOSAGE FORM

Injection: 15 mg single-dose vial (Powder for Solution)

INDICATIONS

Itis indicated alone or in combination with medicine capecitabine for the treatment of patients with metastatic or locally advanced breast cancer resistant to treatment with an anthracycline and a taxane, or whose cancer is taxane resistant and for whom further anthracycline therapy is contraindicated.

STORAGE & SHELF LIFE

  • Shelf life: It must be used within six hours of preparation.
  • Ixabepilone kits must be stored in a refrigerator at 2°C to 8°C (36°F–46°F).
